I finally finished this painting. The colors are a little more vibrant in real life but I don't want to mess around with color correction on the slide because it is only on the blog page that it doesn't show up as strongly. Portovenere is a beautiful Liguran coastal village in Italy. It is even more beautiful than Portofino which is considered to be the Italian Riviera. The castle-like structure on the top of the mountain was originally a temple to Venus but is now a little monastery church. Venere in Italian means Venus. Thus, the name of the town, Port of Venus. This is a giclée* reproduction of a painting this painting. It is a limited edition of 250 and would be number 2 in the series.

The lighting in this painting is somewhat moody but the light color of the model's slip brings your eye into focus on the her face. I particularly liked the idea of the model being reflected in the mirror. I think it adds to the dreamy atmosphere.
